Chanel Métiers D'Art 2011/2012 Avant-Autumn Collection

Just a quick post to say props to my boy Karl for this Collection shown this week in Paris. Have a look at the video at the end of this post to get a good taste of the Pari-ndian feeling show (look out especially for nice touchs such as model trains parading at a similar speed to the models' strut).
Pharaoh Pea forgoes the bindi and shari but does port a sash in today's Chanel Ensemble du Jour.

Ciao for now,

YIPIIYAY - Scarf du Jour

Holla. Just a quick post to show off Pharaoh Pea's sweet ass scarf from the Spring/Summer 2012 Louis Vuitton menswear collection. Pharaoh Pea is having lots of laughs at the amusements with a dear friend.

It's only a few months until the full collection is available for yo' paws. There's a nice "Out of Africa" feature on the collection in the Autumn/Winter Another Man Magazine. The Collection was, the new menswear creative director, Kim Jones's first.
Like me he spent much of his upbringing in Africa, however unlike me, he is not a Pharaoh and migrated from Africa later in his childhood. Much of the collection is inspired by the ecletic mix of environments in which Jones was fortunate to the experince growing up; reflecting the emphasis on travel and a global image Lewee Veetawn projects itself.

Chaw, chaw- check the video of the full collection shown during menswear Paris Fashion week.

I am vely busy at the moment, but hopefully I'll manage to get back soon to spread the juicy deets of an amour blossoming between Marni and H&M for the Spring/Summer 2012 collaboration announced last week.

Arrivederci,

Pharaoh Pea

The latter three photos are copyright of Another Man. If you want to see the rest of the editorial go out and buy the magazine yah' cheahp bastahd (or if you're really strapped for cash loiter in your local news agents and feast yo' eyes on it there)!

Video du Semaine

I am the busiest Peaver I've been since entered the blogosphere and began sharing my incoherent rambling. So as a reminder that I'm still alive here's the best of this weeks viral videos!

The first was uploaded last Thursday, since then it's gotten just short of two and half million hits (almost as many as Pharaoh Pea gets daily). The acting is slightly dubious. As is Paul's taste in tatoos.
What's also questionable is that these two strangers find love while traveling around alone on a ferry/cruise/yacht; along with their careless disregard for books. Obviously the person's (whose viewpoint we see everything from) book isn't very engaging if
a) It can't hold their attention over Paul, standing beside them.
b) they allow Paul to deface it with his phone number.

But these points aside it coveys a nice message on love, have a look.

Many of the gay rights videos rate relatively highly on the cheesy spectrum, despite this I like Sophia and Blanche's Anna Wintour's, Barbara Bush's, The Ruffulo's, Whoopie's and lovah, lovah Alec Baldwin's for Marriage Eguality in NY which was passed in June.

In other news Fenton the dog caused quite a kerfuffle in Richmond Park, London during the week. The video of his popa Max chasing him has gone viral. Enjoy

I've also been listening to this, this and this a lot this week. I like very much.

I had planned on posts on mustaches, shopfront displays, outfits du jour, Jil Sander for Uniqlo this month, but I barely have time to post this meandering tangent of thought at zee moment. Hopefully over the holiday season I'll be back with some higher quality posting.
Ciao for now,

Pharaoh Pea

Off the Beaten Track - NICE SONG and NICE SKETCHES

I was going to wait until I had something style-post worthy organised to put on here, but since about one person annually actually reads this I feel it's ok to veer slightly off course and diversify in the Pharaoh Pea output to the blogosphere.
So Part One of this post is this b.e.a.uty of a song by James Vincent McMorrow brought to my attention by an amigo. He's Irish like Pharaoh Pea (quarter Irish, quarter vegtable, half Egyptian Royalty) and sounds as good as Bon Iver.

While I'm off the beaten track I'll throw in Part Two a gem I've stumbled across on issuu. It's someone's very nice sketches in their moleskin book they've uploaded. I find snooping through it is like reading a very disjointed,  uplifting  version of Anne Frank's diary without the sad ending (so.... really nothing like reading Anne Frank's diary at all)
Take a look at it in full here.

Sketch du Jour.

I recently discovered a folder full o' scans of some sketches I've done. Keep your eyes open for some more over the next few months but here's today's - a sketch of a photo by R Avedon of Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel I saw in the Pompidou.
Although Chanel allowed herself to be seduced by the Nazis and was arguably very dishonest in her climb to success, she was a talented revolutionaire and pioneer in elegant simplicity and because of this an inspiration to Foh Pea.
American Richard Avedon fortunately was a much more ethical individual and an excellent photographer. He had a huge influence on the career of, amoung others, China Machado. He died in 2004 at the age of 81 and hadn't yet retired.

See y'all later,
Pharaoh Pea

VERSACE DU JOUR (Miami Vice)

I said that a lot of the Versace/H and M menswear was a step into Miami Vice territory too far for Pharaoh Pea to venture. So I thought noone would be more approriate to drape themselves in Donnatella's offerings and show their swaggah' via Pharaoh Pea than Tubbs and Crockett themselves (and Magnum PI). No anotation necessary as the boys are all wearing Versace for H and M. Enjoy.
Bisous,
PP, Crockett, Tubbs and Magnum PI

Versace for (all) the ladies.

This post is slightly overdue as I've been a busy Peaver etc. (so I hope you haven't been waiting too anxiously to view it my loyal following of one). Anyway here's the womenswear produce of the Versace and H&M romance. Ms. Versace and H and M put on a big show in New York on Tuesday to celebrate their brief love affair.
Royalty was represented in the form of two Princes, however HRH Queen Wintour was M.I.A. Prince Pelayo joined blog buddies like Bryan Boy and fashiontoast, while Prince and Nicki Minaj serenaded Mark Ronson, Blake Lively, Alexander Wang, Jessica Alba, Uma Turman, Versace's own Christopher Kane and other fortunate guests.
Like I said in the previous post on Versace for the boys overall the collaboration has been a great success. It represents the Versace archives and is a lovely homage to the late Gianni. Donnatella described it as "The Greatest Hits".
While I'm enamoured by most of the ad campaign I find two outfits slightly dubious. One is a confusing two toned blue, floral print dress with matching cut off leggings; the other is a cushion. You'll see what I'm refering to when you scroll down! While you're free to wander around in outfit that doesn't meet my taste I feel obliged to urge you, please don't take inspiration from the lookbook and start wandering around wearing only household objects. I have to discourage trying the naked holding only a cushion ensemble. It's best left for the clinically insane or within the confines of the boudoir and certainly not for the public.
Cha-cha-check Pharaoh Pea's top fives along with the video of the ad campaign and the show in full way down there.
Versace for H and M goes on sale online and in stores on Thursday 17th November
Ciao, Ciao,

VERSACE for H and M (Gentlemen)

Here's the men's campaign and look book for the Versace/ H and M collaboration. Although the collection is probably a step Miami Vice too far for Pharaoh Pea to pull off, it's a very succesful one. It's one which covers the Versace archives very well and is a very nice homage to the late Gianni. You can checkah, checkah it on Versace, H and M or Vogue. My favourite past collaborations have been Lanvin and Victor and Rolf.
The collection goes on sale the 17th of November (19th in the Unites States of Emericaw) and for any hermits/ those not living within walking distance of the selceted stores it's being sold in, it can be bought online on the H and M website.
Be back soon avec Versace for the ladies and some Versace du Jour.
Enjoy,
Pharaoh Pea
